The
practice of reflexology – massaging and stimulating areas
of the feet in order to aid the body's healing processes –
dates back to the Egyptians. Reflexology works on the principle
that an organ or gland found in the body will have its ‘reflex
area' in a corresponding part of the foot – each foot is mapped
out to reflect the structure of the body. Where there is imbalance
in the body, there are usually crystal-like deposits or congestion
in the feet, and by working these, reflexology helps to release
deep-rooted problems. The general goal is to create harmony or ‘homeostasis'
in the body, when all bodily systems are functioning in balance.
A
reflexology treatment can help address specific problems,
both physical and psychological, and clients report a huge
sense of wellbeing after a treatment. Many clients use reflexology
as a way of switching off or unwinding after a busy day and
find it the perfect antidote to our stress-fuelled lives.
It is difficult to explain the feeling you get after a session,
so come along and experience it for yourself!

What
to expect : A reflexology treatment takes place
with the client lying fully clothed on the couch, with a blanket
if needed.Throughout the treatment, I work only on the feet, which
allows you to drift off into deep relaxation. Before the treatment,
I will take a full medical history and we will discuss specific
needs to I can tailor the treatment to you. Afterwards, I will talk
you through some aftercare advice so you can benefit fully from
your reflexology.
